This gelato cafe, located on the corner of 20th and Sansom streets, serves some of the best gelato you'll find anywhere in Philadelphia—or elsewhere. For the uninitiated, gelato is a frozen dessert; some say it's the Italian counterpart to American ice cream. Best of all, gelato contains roughly half the fat and calories of ice cream!
Here, gelato is made is small batches, using only premium, seasonal ingredients, some of which are sourced from area farms. Imported ingredients, like Sicilian pistachios and hazelnut paste, are used, as well. Flavors are as inventive as they are delicious, ranging from Thai coconut milk and Mexican coffee to rosemary honey goat's milk. Sorbet flavors include champagne mango and lime cilantro.
