Bring the Kids and Pets to Schuylkill River Park Near Rittenhouse Claridge in Philadelphia

September 25, 2014

Just because you reside in Center City Philadelphia doesn't mean you should be cut off from nature—or so believed the founders of Schuylkill River Park. They designed their park to run right along its namesake river, which cuts directly through Center City.

The waterside trail attracts many runners and walkers from the city and beyond since it feeds right into Fairmount's labyrinth of paths. Other types of athletes might enjoy the basketball courts and tennis courts, but you don't have to be sporty to take advantage of Schuylkill River Park. Many locals come here for the pair of dog parks—one for big dogs and the other for small ones—or simply to sit in the shade and relax. Some bring the kids along to run around on the playground. Regardless, since the park is just a short trip away from Rittenhouse Claridge, it's worth a visit even if you only have an hour or two to spare.
