Spring is an obvious time to celebrate Japanese heritage in Philadelphia. After all, it's when the city's Japanese cherry trees burst into bloom, showcasing hundreds of delicate pink and white petals. That's why The Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater Philadelphia falls in April every year. This year, it kicks off on April 7th and runs through the 15th.
The Blossom Festival brings all sorts of events and activities to the City of Brotherly Love and its 'burbs, but perhaps no event on the itinerary is as exciting as Sakura Sunday on April 15th. The entire festival culminates in this final blowout at the Horticulture Center at Fairmount Park. It showcases every aspect of Japanese culture, from live music and dance to fashion and art. Check out the flourishing trees and stop by the Shofuso Japanese House and Garden before the day is up. Admission starts at $5.
