JJ Thai Cuisine is so new to Rittenhouse Square that it only has a bare-bones website, consisting solely of lunch and dinner menus. Yet the eatery has already started amassing rave reviews from patrons—more than 20 of them on Yelp, almost exclusively five-star ratings. So it's obvious that, despite the fact that JJ just opened in October, the people of Philadelphia have already fully embraced it.
Make the short walk from Rittenhouse Claridge to JJ Thai Cuisine (about four blocks) if you want to get a taste of the fare that has your fellow city dwellers talking. To start, customers highly recommend the steamed mussels. They come swimming in a white wine broth seasoned with lemongrass, chili, and basil. For the main course, order the roasted rack of Australian lamb with a basil-demi glace, plus purple potatoes, carrots, and Brussels sprouts on the side, or the pan-seared Chilean sea bass with oyster mushrooms, spinach, and soy-tamarind sauce.
