The Free Library of Philadelphia’s Culinary Literacy Center seeks to spread information regarding a specific type of literacy: literacy in the kitchen. At the Knife Skills: Minestrone Soup class on Monday, May 15th, guests learn the fundamentals of slicing and dicing for just $20.
Betty Kaplan, a seasoned chef, leads the class. She’ll show you how to use a cook’s knife over the course of the class from 6 to 8:30 p.m. She starts by explaining how to find the right knife for your needs and how to keep it in tip-top shape for as long as possible. Then Betty demonstrates basic knife cuts and gives guests the opportunity to actually try them in class. The result? All the ingredients you need to make a delicious minestrone soup.
