When the weather warms up for the season in Philadelphia, Eakins Oval transforms into The Oval, a pop-up park nestled right in the heart of the looping Ben Franklin Parkway. From Friday, July 20th to Sunday, August 19th the colorful park promises a slew of free, family-friendly activities and some special weekly events.
Come to the park between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday to play through the nine-hole mini golf course, check out the interactive art installations, or enjoy games like Connect Four and Ping Pong. From 5 to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 2 to 11 p.m. on weekends, you can also grab a brew in the beer garden. Plan your visit for a Wednesday evening to sweat your way through a free yoga class (6 to 8 p.m.) or come on Thursday night for a DJ dance party.
