Watch Chocolatiers at Work at Marci Blaine Artisanal Chocolates

September 19, 2016

One of the perks of living in Philadelphia is your proximity to farm-fresh foods and artisanal producers, even in the heart of the city. Chef Marcie Blaine Turney takes full advantage of Pennsylvania's bounty. To craft her gourmet chocolates, the chef enlists the help of farmers in Lancaster County, sourcing her organic cream and butter from their dairy farms. Other local farmers provide the honey, herbs, and seasonal produce she needs to craft her one-of-a-kind chocolates at Marci Blaine Artisanal Chocolates.

She and her team actually handcraft the chocolates on-site in a small kitchen in the back of her shop on 13th Street, known as Verde. So come by to watch them work. They might be making a batch of the Prosecco truffles, pretty pink creations that are actually infused with the sparkling wine. Or they could be whipping up dark chocolate tinged with the flavor of smoked bacon, beautiful orange-swirled candies filled with blood orange olive oil, or chocolates encrusted with crushed pistachios.
