Zama: Incredible Sushi and a Charitable Cause, Not Far From Rittenhouse Claridge in Philadelphia

November 20, 2014

For truly exceptional sushi, try Zama. Just a short way from Rittenhouse Claridge, Zama offers nearly 60 a la carte sashimi and maki style sushi. Opened by head chef Hiroyuki "Zama" Tanaka, one of Philadelphia's most highly respected sushi chefs, this bar and restaurant offers sushi, traditional Japanese cuisine entrees and desserts, plus plenty of beers, sake and wines. Step inside and relax in their naturalistic, wood-accented dining room.

Order a sushi roll off of the "Charity Rolls" portion of the menu, and a portion of the proceeds are donated to charities. Try the popular vetri roll, the product of a genius collaboration between Chef Marc Vetri (proceeds go to the Vetri Foundation, promoting healthy school lunches) and Chef Tanaka. This crunchy eel roll is wrapped inside diakon, covered with truffled eel sauce and served with cucumber noodles in an uni sauce and an uni brulee sauce on the side. Many customers also found the sashimi to be excellent and subtly flavored.
