One of our missions at Kaiserman Company is to be good stewards of the planet. We make investments at all of our communities which increase energy efficiency and improve sustainability.
Green Apartments in Center City
When we renovate individual apartments, we always install:
Throughout the community we use:
- CFL bulbs in common areas
- High-efficiency fluorescent bulbs in garage
- Drought tolerant, native landscaping
- Green cleaning products
We’ve also installed bike racks to encourage the use of pedal power.
We actively upgrade our main heating and air conditioning equipment. For instance, we recently installed a Carrier comfort system, which saves energy by backing down boilers and air conditioning on demand. Also, in every newly renovated apartment, we install the latest fan coil units, which have a significant increase in air volume and use less energy to run.
Our new single-stream recycling bins allow everything to be recycled together, which has substantially increased the amount of material that avoids the landfill.
We also practice what we preach in our own offices as well. For instance, company-wide we have switched to filtered rather than bottled water, eliminating truck delivery of bottles, as well as the bottle waste stream itself, and we now only use paper that is made from at least 50% post-consumer recycled content.
These are just some of the projects that represent a $5 million dollar investment we’ve made across our portfolio. To learn more about our corporate sustainability initiatives, click here.
