Bowling Enjoys Continued Popularity at These Alleys Near Rittenhouse Claridge in Philadelphia

January 29, 2015

Young and old, coordinated and uncoordinated, athletic and not-so-athletic, bowling is a sport that caters to you. The beloved pastime is especially popular in Philadelphia, where alleys range from contemporary and hip to traditional and retro. Check out these two alleys located near Rittenhouse Claridge for a night of old-fashioned fun:

North Bowl
If you're the type of bowler who wants to see modern touches at an alley, then North Bowl is an ideal option for you. Trendy and high-end, the establishment feels almost more like a posh restaurant than a bowling alley. That vibe is largely thanks to the menu of gourmet fare served at the alley, which features local ingredients. Grab a draft beer (there are 12 on tap at all times) or a glass of wine and bowl to your heart's content. You can also come for the lounge alone, a game of pool, or a round of retro arcade gaming.

PEP Bowl
PEP Bowl has been a part of South Philadelphia for more than 60 years. Of course, it looked a lot different on opening day in the '50s—the alley has undergone several updates to keep it current. Yet PEP Bowl still maintains a vintage atmosphere not far from Center City. Come here for a round of bowling, and you'll also be giving back to the surrounding community. PEP Bowl's proceeds go to charities that help locals with special needs find employment and services.
