Local blackberries, peaches, and even Asian pears serve as the foundation for the rich, creamy gelatos on the menu at Capogiro Gelato Artisans. Located in Old City, the gelateria came to be after owners Stephanie and John Reitano visited Italy. They realized that really good gelato was hard to come by in Philadelphia, so they decided to open their own shop.
At Capogiro Gelato Artisans, gelato-maker Stephanie crafts flavors in small batches each morning, beginning with high-quality ingredients, including local fruit and milk from grass-fed cows. Although the exact flavor lineup changes depending on the season, you can expect to see options such as rosemary honey goat's milk, pistachio, stracciatella, and mascarpone and fig on the menu at Capogiro.
