If you want to get some exercise and do good alongside your dad on Father’s Day, you should both register for the Philadelphia Father’s Day Run. On Sunday, June 16th, the run will launch from Paine’s Park on Martin Luther King Drive at 8:30 a.m. Proceeds from your registration fee go toward fighting prostate cancer, a worthy cause to contribute to on Father’s Day.
The run is only a 5K, so you and your running buddy won’t have to train for weeks on end in order to participate. You’re welcome to run or walk the relatively flat course along MLK Drive, which loops around in a circle so you end up back at the park. Participants are highly encouraged to wear a bowtie or a necktie in honor of Father’s Day as they jog along the race route, which stays close to the Schuylkill River.
