The Philadelphia Flower Show Is a Cure for the Winter Blues

February 20, 2019

It’s going to be a few weeks before spring finally arrives, but the Philadelphia Flower Show is bringing the spring blooms to town early. From March 2nd to 10th, the annual flower show will take over the Pennsylvania Convention Center with hundreds of florists, landscapers, and designers showing off their handiwork.

The flower show has been a tradition since 1829—making it the oldest flower show in the nation, and it also happens to be the biggest. However, its organizers still manage to come up with a fresh theme each year. For 2019, the theme is “Flower Power,” a nod to Woodstock on its 50th anniversary. The floral artists will illustrate the ways that flowers have helped to shape society in their splashy displays. Once you’ve explored the array of exhibits, check out the vendors in the market area. More than 150 of them offer everything from handmade jewelry to garden furniture. Tickets to the show start at $17.
